Luke Combs, Maren Morris and George Strait were among the country winners at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, which aired on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Combs, who'll release his deluxe album What You See Ain't Always What You Get on October 23, took home the awards for Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Country Album, while Morris won Top Country Female Artist. Dan + Shay won Top Country Duo/Group.
Country legend George Strait beat out Eric Church and Florida Georgia Line for Top Country Tour. The award was presented off-camera.
Garth Brooks was awarded Billboard's Icon Award. Brooks is the first country artist and just the ninth overall to receive Icon Award honors.
The award was presented to Brooks by music legend Cher.
"To Miss Cher, getting to hold the award that you go makes me feel so cool. And cool is never a word I would use to describe me. If I had to thank one person, one entity, it would be God Almighty because through Him all things are possible," Brooks said during his acceptance speech. "To the love of my life Trisha Yearwood, the three girls, Taylor, August and Allie, I'll love you beyond my time here on this planet. Country radio, you gave me this. To all those people that fill those stands, thank you, thank you for my life."
The Billboard Music Awards, hosted by Kelly Clarkson, were originally scheduled for April but rescheduled for October due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
