Candace Cameron Bure has been a regular on our TVs since her childhood days starring as DJ Tanner on Full House. The Fuller House star is now starring in the beloved sitcom's Netflix reboot and is one of Hallmark's regular leading ladies in all of their Christmas movies. Unlike some of her unlucky in love characters she plays on TV, in real life Candace has been happily married for over 20 years. It was actually one of her castmates from Full House that introduced her to husband Valeri Bure.

Valeri Bure was born in Moscow, but moved to North America with his father and brother after his brother Pavel was able to kick off his NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks. Bure, also a skilled professional hockey player, went on to play for Russia in the Winter Olympics, as well as play for numerous professional teams including the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, and Dallas Stars. Bure can actually thank his hockey career for giving him his introduction to his wife in 1995.

Dave Coulier, who played Uncle Joey on the show, was participating in a charity hockey game. He invited the whole cast out to watch and Candace was in attendance. She explained to Huff Post that she was already attracted to her future husband just watching him play on the ice for the first time.

"Dave was playing in a charity hockey game, and so he said, "Hey, there are these two really good Russian hockey players." It was Val and his brother Pavel [Bure]. He invited me to the game, he invited the whole cast, and I went with Lori Loughlin [who played Aunt Becky] and we sat there and were looking at these two really cute boys -- two cute men, I guess -- on the ice, and I was like, "I want to meet that one, the blonde one," which was Val. And that was it."

The couple went on their first date the next day and have been together ever since. Bure even gifted Coulier a signed hockey stick that says "Thanks for Candace" which he still has to this day. on June 22, 1996, the couple tied the knot and wasted no time expanding their family. Daughter Natasha was born in 1998, and sons Lev and Maksim in 2000 and 2002. After 20 years of marriage, the couple is still going strong.

"He makes me laugh a lot, which is a very good quality," she told Us Weekly. "He's just such a bold person. We always have interesting conversations. I love his passion and his strength so very much. He's so supportive of me and our children."

Bure has since retired from hockey due to a back injury, and these days he and Candance operate the Bure Family Wines in St. Helena, California. The couple recently received some backlash from fans due to an Instagram post (swipe right above to see) where Bure is grabbing his wife's breast. Apparently, the PDA was alarming to some and the actress wasted no time responding candidly.

"For all of the Christians that are questioning my post with my husband's hand on my boob -- my husband of 24 years -- thinking it was inappropriate, it makes me laugh because it's my husband," the Fuller House star, said in a series of videos on her Instagram Stories. "We have so much fun together. He can touch me anytime he wants, and I hope he does. That is what a healthy, good marriage and relationship is all about."
