'The Voice': 16-Year-Old Brayden Lape Sings Brett Young's 'In Case You Didn't Know' in Top 8

The Voice Top 8 contestants showcased their talents on Monday night's (Dec. 5) episode of the show in a bid to move forward to the finals, and Team Blake Shelton's Brayden Lape took on a smooth Brett Young song for his performance.

The singer sang "In Case You Didn't Know," Young's 2017 hit from his self-titled album. Accompanied by acoustic guitar and soft fiddle, Lape dove into the sweet love song. The 16-year-old roamed a platform that looked like a dock on the stage as he sang the first verse and chorus about expressing one's love to someone else. In the second chorus, Lape showed off the higher range of his voice as he sang out the final note leading into the bridge. He then walked down to the main stage to finish the song with a solid amount of power.

This isn't the first time Lape has performed a Brett Young song on The Voice. During the knockout rounds, he sang Young's 2017 breakup song, "Mercy," which advanced him to the Top 16. After auditioning on the show with a Niall Horan song, Lape has stayed in the country realm throughout many of his performances, also performing songs by Kane Brown, Kenny Chesney and John Legend.

Monday night's show also saw performances from the rest of the Top 8, including Omar Jose Cardona, Bodie, Bryce Leatherwood, Justin Aaron, Parijita Bastola, Kim Cruse and Morgan Myles. The night included solo performances as well as duets of classic Whitney Houston songs. Lape got together with his teammate Bodie to sing Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody."

The Voice will continue into the finals next week, and the winner will be announced during the finale on Tuesday, December 13.
