Meet the New Cast Members Joining Season 2 of 'Outer Range', Amazon Prime's Compelling Sci-Fi Western

Here are the new faces joining Josh Brolin and Imogen Poots in Prime's weird Western.

Prime Video is gearing up for the second season of its neo-Western sci-fi series, Outer Range, by expanding its cast. Joining the Yellowstone-meets-time-travel series are Christian James (All American), Megan West (How To Get Away With Murder), Daniel Abeles (Women of the Movement), Kimberly Guerrero (The English) and Monette Moio (The Real Bros Of Simi Valley), per Deadline. Their involvement will be in recurring roles alongside Josh Brolin, who takes the lead in this dramatic narrative. For now, Prime is keeping a lid on any character details.

Outer Range, conceived by Brian Watkins, revolves around the central character Royal Abbott, portrayed by Josh Brolin. Abbott, a determined rancher, embarks on a quest to protect his land and family. His journey unravels an enigmatic and mind-boggling mystery nestled on the fringes of Wyoming's untamed wilderness: a massive circular chasm that seems to go on forever and is also a time travel portal. The show weaves a compelling blend of suspense, drama, science fiction, and Western motifs.

In addition to Brolin, the newcomers will join Imogen Poots, Lili Taylor, Tamara Podemski, Lewis Pullman, Tom Pelphrey, Noah Reid, Shaun Sipos, Isabel Arraiza, Olive Abercrombie, and Will Patton as the series ventures into its eagerly awaited second season.

While the release date of season 2 is still pending, we can expect a return to this weird Western in either the fall of 2023 or early 2024. Presumably, it is still in production despite the actor strikes but we do know it was filming earlier this year when Brolin shared some photos while filming in New Mexico.

Season 1 left us with plenty of questions. Perry's wife Rebecca is nowhere to be found. And all that talk about Greek Gods begs the question... did Chronus tear the hole in the pasture with his sickle? Or is all that just a metaphor? And Royal Abbott is sketchy. He says he fell into a hole and came out on the Abbott's property in the 1960s. We don't know for certain if he's telling the whole story — but we do know he's got a way of bending the truth as well as the spacetime continuum.
