Duck Dynasty star Kay Robertson was rushed to the hospital on June 22 after suffering a dog attack at home. The family dog Bobo took a chunk out of the Roberton family matriarch's bottom lip after she snuck up behind him while he was sleeping to give him a goodnight kiss.
"I said, 'Move that rag a minute,' " Phil recalled. "She takes the rag off her face, and I'm looking at her top lip, [it] was split in two, about a quarter of an inch. That's a big cut."
He continued, "Her bottom lip, over on the right side, there was just a chunk gone. Bleeding profusely is an understatement."
Jase said he knew that the injuries had to be severe since Phil rushed her to the hospital in the middle of the night and he was not one to unnecessarily make a trip out to see a doctor.
"I know my dad well. I thought, 'if my dad drove my mom to the hospital, this is bad,'" Jase said. "This is the same guy who if you don't have a body part detached or you're not bleeding profusely, he's like 'Oh you're alright.' "
But don't think that the Robertson family will be getting rid of Bobo anytime soon. Even with the painful injury, Kay made sure everyone knows that she doesn't blame him. She feels the incident was just as much her fault since she startled Bobo, not realizing that he was asleep at the time which caused him to snap up at her.
"First thing she told Dad when she came in," Alan Robertson said on the podcast, "She said 'I just want you to know that Bobo met me at the truck and he apologized.'"
Just because a dog is supposed to be a man's best friend doesn't mean she can't be more careful in the future though which her husband makes sure to remind her.
"I said the old saying, 'Miss Kay, let a sleeping dog lie. You need to remember that,'" Phil Robertson added.
