While the strong voices of country music singers have brought us some of the best honky-tonk country songs out there, they've also brought us some seriously romantic songs.
Though it was hard to narrow down from some other incredible songs from the likes of Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton and Sugarland, these are 12 of the best country love songs of the 2000s.
1. Dixie Chicks: 'Cowboy Take Me Away'
This Dixie Chicks classic from their album Fly hit number one on the country charts in 2000. It remains one of the trio's signature songs and one of the biggest love songs in the genre during the early 2000s.
2. Faith Hill: 'Breathe'
Faith Hill's album of the same name won a Grammy for best country album. Its titular single peaked at number two on the charts and is one of the steamier songs on her album. We're guessing she got some serious inspiration for her own personal love story with country star Tim McGraw.
3. Taylor Swift: 'Love Story'
This 2008 hit from Taylor Swift was an instant pop crossover success from her album Fearless. Because she wrote the song about one of her real-life love interests that wasn't popular with her family and friends, she used Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to play out the fairytale in the song. The song was so popular it was certified 8x Platinum.
4. Shania Twain: 'You're Still The One'
Though this classic Shania Twain song came out in the late '90s, it was still huge in the 2000s. The third single from her album Come On Over, "You're Still The One" is recognized as one of the singer's most successful crossover hits and one of the best love songs of all time.
5. Brad Paisley: 'We Danced'
This memorable song from 2000 was co-written by Brad Paisley and Chris DuBois. The narrator finds a woman's purse and agrees to give it back after sharing a dance. Obviously, the two fall in love and the end result is a number one hit on the country Billboard charts.
6. Keith Urban: 'Making Memories of Us'
Originally written by Rodney Crowell, "Making Memories of Us" was included on Keith Urban's 2004 album Be Here. The song spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard chart. The song has also been recorded by Tracy Byrd and Vince Gill.
7. George Strait: 'It Just Comes Natural'
This 2006 George Strait hit finds the King of Country comparing his relationship to the ease of a changing season and a cowboy on a long ride. Pure country and pure love.
8. Rascal Flatts: 'Bless the Broken Road'
This 2004 hit from Rascal Flatts' album Feels Like Today spent five weeks at number one. It won a Grammy award for best country song and remains a classic.
9. Dierks Bentley: 'Come a Little Closer'
The second single from the 2005 album Modern Day Drifter, this sultry ballad almost reminds you of the sexy Conway Twitty song, "I'd Love to Lay You Down." It reached number one on the country charts where it remained for three weeks.
10. Big & Rich: 'Lost in This Moment'
This was the first single from the duo's 2007 album Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace. It was nominated for Single and Song of the Year at the 2007 CMA Awards.
11. Lonestar: 'Amazed'
Released in 1999, Lonestar's "Amazed" went on to become one of the biggest country hits of the early 2000s. The song, written by Aimee Mayo, Marv Green and Chris Lindsey, also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
12. Lady Antebellum: 'Need You Now'
Though it's about heartache and loneliness, Lady Antebellum's yearning 2009 hit "Need You Now" is also one of the decade's most romantic songs.
