Kenny Chesney Announces Intimate Shows for 2019 Songs For the Saints Tour

Kenny Chesney is back on the road in 2019 for his Songs for the Saints Tour, but don't expect huge arenas and stadiums when the country star comes to your state. This time around Chesney is focused on playing smaller, more intimate venues.

On Wednesday (Nov. 7), Chesney announced that the first stop on the tour will be Champaign, Ill. at the State Farm Center. Eleven stops have been announced so far, including Washington, D.C., Tallahassee, Fla. Columbia, Mo. and Atlantic City, N.J. More cities will be added in the coming weeks.

"Last year was so intense, and amazing. No Shoes Nation took it to a whole other level, and they blew all of us away. It was the kind of energy you don't take for granted," Chesney said in a press release. "So when we started thinking about next year, they made me wanna come to them. Rather than the massive two-day set-up, make everyone come to a stadium away from their homes, I wanted to go to where the fans live ... strip things back a bit, and make it a little more intimate."

Chesney hasn't announced specific dates for the tour yet. Wide Open Country will update this story with dates and additional tour stops as they become available.

Chesney released his 17th studio album Songs for the Saints in July. The album was inspired by the singer's second home of the Virgin Islands and the people that reside there. Proceeds from the album go to Chesney's Love for Love City fund, which helps to rebuild on the islands after the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017.
