Netflix Unveils Gripping First Trailer for 'Virgin River' Season 5

Things are heating up in Virgin River...literally.

Cancel those dinner plans, because the first full-length trailer for Netflix's Virgin River Season 5 is here to absolutely wreck you and your night. In the all-new look at Season 5, Part 1, premiering Sept. 7 on the streamer, Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson's Mel and Jack navigate an exciting new chapter in their lives while fighting personal and professional battles. The couple's plan to start a family is quite literally overshadowed by a massive wildfire that threatens to consume their quaint California town and its inhabitants.

Virgin River Season 5, Part 1 consists of a whopping 10 episodes, all dropping Sept. 7. (Binge mode activated!) The final two episodes of the season will debut November 30 on Netflix. The trailer opens with a sweet moment between Mel and Jack, as the soon-to-be parents eagerly anticipate the arrival of their bundle of joy.

Excitement turns to fear as Mel grapples with stepping into her new life-role: Given her high-risk pregnancy, she's been advised not to continue working at the clinic. Meanwhile, Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Denny's (Kai Bradbury) relationship is all but blossoming.

Towards the midpoint of the trailer, Virgin River comes under serious threat of annihilation when a wildfire engulfs the town's pine-dotted mountains. We see residents huddled together outside, donning disaster blankets, and a smokey orange sky transforms the usually picturesque landscape into nightmare fuel. In voiceover, multiple characters can be heard declaring, "We will rise from the ashes. That's the power of Virgin River."

At the end of the clip, Virgin River comes together for a Labor Day carnival beside the water, and Jack and Mel snuggle up in a ferris wheel to watch fireworks together. There's no telling whether the wildfires mark a dark beginning or end to Season 5, Part 1. Either way, the long-running romance is turning up the heat next month...literally.

Virgin River Season 5, Part 1 premieres September 7 on Netflix. Part 2 is slated to premiere on November 30.
