It's been a long road for Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins to welcome both Willa Gray and Ada James into their family. Wide Open Country readers will remember the year-long adoption process that the country super-couple took to bring Willa Gray into their home. The two soon expanded their family to three, welcoming Ada James into the world on August 12.
Most recently, the two siblings were finally able to meet. Now, they're both proving to be quite the handful for mom and dad!
"We're tired, but we're happy!" Lauren told People in a recent interview with her husband.
As it turns out, the hardest part so far has been getting Willa and Ada to share their mom. While their newest addition is still under three weeks old, Willa is nearly two-years-old. She frequently gets jealous of all of the time Ada is spending in Lauren's arms.
Still, Lauren is bursting with positivity. Now she has the fully-rounded family that she and Thomas were gearing up for for a little over a year! In regards to the unordinary year that they've had, she says she and Thomas feel like "it's all a part of the plan."
For Thomas Rhett, the hardest part about being a father is knowing that he's going to be away. His new LP, Life Changes, releases just around the corner on Sept. 8. With it is going to come with an inevitable promotional tour. For all of the tantrums and restlessness that they've already faced, Thomas being away from home-base will no doubt be the toughest part for the young family yet.
However, if you think this may affect the couple negatively, fear not! It looks like the couple is gearing up for the long-haul as a happy family with their two beautiful daughters. They've got the help of their own extended family on their side, as well. They range from "sisters and moms and brothers and dads and step-dads," according to Lauren.
We here at Wide Open Country wish Thomas, Lauren, Willa and Ada well on all of the wonderful adventures that they'll have together as a family!
