'The Voice': Niall Horan + Gwen Stefani Declare They’ve 'Lost' After John Legend Picks Up Standout Singer

"I think we're losers, guys," Stefani said.

Each of the coaches on The Voice has strong teams in the making, and they all have the potential to win the competition. However, Niall Horan and Gwen Stefani's hopes of winning were dashed slightly on Tuesday night (10/10) when John Legend recruited an undeniable talent.

That talent belongs to music teacher Caleb Sasser, who performed an angelic version of Toni Braxton's "Another Sad Love Song." Sasser received instant chair turns from Horan and Stefani, who heard potential in his voice within the first few seconds. As the performance continued, Sasser effortlessly showed off his vocal range and ability to sing complex runs. McEntire also turned her chair within 30 seconds of the performance. John Legend then joined the fun shortly after, resulting in a four-chair turn. The rest of the performance left the coaches awestruck, especially when Sasser hit high falsetto notes and showed off some scat singing.

When it was time for the coaches to speak, Legend asked Sasser who his musical influences are, and the North Carolina native responded with Jazmine Sullivan and Legend, himself. This caused Horan and Stefani to already show signs of defeat. Horan threw up his hands and Stefani rested her feet on her chair's buttons.

Still, Stefani did her best to sway Sasser, touting her experience in different genres and telling him she could help him come out of his shell.

"Think about doing something different today with a coach that cares more than any other coaches," she followed up.

Horan also threw a few compliments Sasser's way, saying he looks like the "nicest person" he's ever met. McEntire then said Sasser's voice helped her feel a sense of "peace." She then handed Sasser another huge piece of praise, saying if she had known him when she made her Reba: Duets album, he would have been on it.

In the end, Sasser couldn't help but choose one of his biggest influences, Legend. Needless to say, the other coaches felt a little hopeless after the audition.

"I think we're losers, guys," Stefani said to Horan and McEntire.

"Yep," Horan agreed. "I think we've just officially lost the thing."
