Netflix has proven time and time again that they've got endless new material just when we feel like we've watched just about everything the streaming platform has to offer. If you're currently waiting impatiently for the next seasons of Sweet Magnolias and Virgin River, look no further than Firefly Lane, based on New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah's coming of age novel. The show will be a dramatic reflection of enduring friendship with some tearjerker moments.
The new series premieres on February 3 and stars Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke as childhood best friends. An unlikely duo, Kate Mularkey (Chalke) is a shy and reserved high school student and Tully Hart (Heigl), the "coolest girl in the world" moves in across the street at summer's end and they become fast friends. The Wrap gives a thorough breakdown of the plot that the first season will follow:
"The greatest love story of all can be between friends. When unlikely duo Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) meet at age fourteen, they couldn't be more different. Tully is the brash and bold girl you can't ignore, while Kate is the mousy shy girl you never notice. But when a tragedy brings them together, they are bonded for life — forever inseparable best friends. Together they experience thirty years of ups and downs — triumphs and disappointments, heartbreak and joy, and a love triangle that strains their friendship. One goes on to fabulous wealth and fame, the other chooses marriage and motherhood — but through the decades, their bond remains — until it faces the ultimate test."
