'The Voice': John Legend Nabs Former Team Reba Singer in Dramatic Steal

"Come on home," said Legend

The battle rounds on the "The Voice" not only feature intense competition between the contestants, but every so often an eliminated artist gets the surprise of a lifetime when they are stolen by another coach. John Legend decided to deploy one of his steals after hearing a performance from Team Reba's Mac Royals and Rachele Nguyen.

McEntire paired the singers to sing the Bee Gees' "How Deep Is Your Love." Although the two have very different voices, they worked together to create a harmonious cover that showcased both of their strengths. Nguyen had the chance to truly let her voice soar and showcase the vocal complexity she is able to take on. Royals showcased the lower part of his voice as well as his impressive falsetto and complicated runs. Both artists impressed the coaches, who were pretty split on who to choose.

Legend specifically praised Royals, saying he has the kind of voice the coach personally enjoys listening to. He added that the singer's voice is "buttery gorgeousness."

When McEntire spoke to her team members, she praised Nguyen's range. While she said she wished Royals would have heeded her advice from their rehearsal more, she also complimented his talent. In the end, however, she chose Nguyen to move ahead on her team.

That wasn't the end of the road for Royals, though. Before he could thank McEntire for her time, Legend hit his button to add Royals to his team. Royals fell into a smile of relief as Legend told him to "come on home."

"He has the stage presence, confidence, he just sounds like he should be a star right now," Legend said. "I want to hear a Mac record."

"I'm looking forward to John really giving me the game on how we're gonna win this show," said Royals.

"The Voice" airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
