In Justified: City Primeval, the storyline takes a twist from the original series, centering on Raylan in a reimagined plot. Yet, the dynamic between Clemens' Sandy and Clement Mansell echoes the captivating relationship of Ava and Boyd Crowder from the show's initial six seasons - an intelligent, beautiful woman drawn to an enigmatic yet charismatic criminal.
As fans anticipate the limited series' gripping conclusion, set to air on FX on August 29 and stream on Hulu the next day, Clemens offers insights into her character, on-set experiences, and the thrill of working alongside star and executive producer Timothy Olyphant in an interview with Country Living. She says that working with Olyphant is like doing "acting gymnastics" and recalls one of the most memorable moments on set.
"Tim is so fun. It's like acting gymnastics because he comes up with things at the very last minute for you to play—not for his character but for you," she said. "So we were doing that scene in episode two where Sandy answers the door in her bathrobe, and Tim was like, 'What if she's sick?' It was a seven-page scene where I suddenly had to play sick and figure out how to do that. So part of the panic that you see Sandy going through in that scene is actually just my genuine panic about, like, is this going to look insane? But that was really fun."
