Country Rewind: Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers Go Home for the Holidays on 'With Bells On'

If there's one thing we love to hear Dolly Parton sing other than her classics, it's Christmas music. Her small town roots shine through and she really finds a way to show the true meaning of the season.

"With Bells On" was one of the standout tracks from her 1984 Christmas album with longtime collaborator, Kenny Rogers, Once Upon a Christmas. The iconic duo also covered multiple other classic holiday songs like "White Christmas," but this was one of the few new holiday songs alongside "I Believe in Santa Claus."

The same year the album was released, 1984, the music stars performed the Christmas song live on their CBS special, "Kenny & Dolly: A Christmas to Remember" in the above clip. It starts out with Dolly explaining that she and Rogers come from small town America where celebrating Christmas means going to the local church and joining together in song.

Parton and Rogers perform the song in a church alongside the choir as well as everyone in the audience. Both Dolly and Kenny encourage people to clap along. It's likely to make you feel like you're back home on Christmas Eve, singing alongside family and friends.

"With Bells On" Lyrics:

I'll be home with bells on

I'll be home with bells on

Trim the tree and wrap the presents turn the Christmas music on

This Christmas I'll be home with bells on

I've traveled around this country crossed the waters deep and wide

Made lots of friends and memories brought joy to other's lives

It's Christmas time again another year has come and gone

And I can't keep from wonderin' how the old folks are at home

I'll be home with bells on

I'll be home with bells on

Trim the tree and wrap the presents turn the Christmas music on

This Christmas I'll be home with bells on

When the snow is on the meadow and the sleigh bells jingle bright

And the kids are singing jingle bells around the Christmas lights

As daddy stokes the fire and mama puts the turkey on

There ain't nothing going to slow me down this Christmas

I'll be home with bells on

I'll be home with bells on

Trim the tree and wrap the presents turn the Christmas music on

This Christmas I'll be home with bells on

I'll be home with bells on

I'll be home with bells on

Trim the tree and wrap the presents turn the Christmas music on

This Christmas I'll be home with bells on
