Sara Evans, Dolly Parton + More Raise Breast Cancer Awareness With New Song 'Pink'

Country music stars Dolly Parton, Sara Evans and breast cancer survivor Rita Wilson team with an impressive cast of powerful voices from outside the genre (Monica and Jordin Sparks) on "Pink," a charity single for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The special Breast Cancer Awareness Month release was written by Erin Kinsey, Jodi Marr and Victoria Shaw, produced by Shaw and distributed by Brighter Day Records. Its lyrics hope for a world where breast cancer's cured and pink is once again "just another color."

Shaw's other credits as a songwriter include Garth Brooks' "The River."

"This is such a beautiful song of hope," said Parton in a press release. "I'm honored to join with these powerful women to help support Susan G. Komen's life-saving work."

For Evans, the song's a pandemic-friendly way to build off past good deeds.

"After performing at Opry Goes Pink last year, I'm thrilled to be supporting Susan G. Komen again this year in a very big way," Evans said in a press release. "There is something magical that happens when women band together to have a positive impact on the world for our sisters and our daughters."

Wilson's statement reminds us all that breast cancer impacts more than just its victims.

"The song is not just for someone who is a survivor or going through breast cancer treatment, it is for anyone who loves someone who has been impacted by breast cancer," added Wilson. "That's what I love about the song."

Susan G. Komen for the Cure breaks this down further, noting that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lifetime, meaning just about everyone has or will be touched by this disease that kills more than 42,000 women and men in the U.S. each year.

A music video accompanies the song's release and shows all five vocalists performing their parts at home (a common sight in coronavirus precaution-friendly videos).

The song arrives at a busy time for Parton and Evans. Both have a book to promote, while Parton's spreading holiday cheer with a Christmas album featuring a duet with goddaughter Miley Cyrus and an upcoming Netflix film.
