How to Watch the 2023 National Dog Show on Thanksgiving

Everything you need to know before the top 200 pups take the stage on Turkey Day

The stage is set, the competition is fierce, and the competitors have no idea what's going on. The 2023 National Dog Show takes place on Thanksgiving this year -- here's how to watch the furry and adorable action.

Watching a dog show is the perfect Thanksgiving activity. The whole family is gathered together, eagerly awaiting their dinner. Instead of the conversation drifting toward some hangriness-induced argument, everyone can discuss how nice all the dogs look. Because who doesn't love dogs? Plus, it creates more of a conversation than if you get cozy on the couch in a food coma for a Thanksgiving movie marathon.

Here's everything you need to know about the National Dog Show before the top 200 pups take the stage on Turkey Day.

What time is the National Dog Show on Thanksgiving?

In case you need a quick refresher, Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday of November. This year, that's Thursday, November 23. The National Dog Show is a tradition that's been around for more than 20 years. This event is hosted by The Kennel Club of Philadelphia and authorized by the American Kennel Club. It airs on NBC at 12 p.m. in all time zones, right after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Where can I watch the show?

You can tune in to the 2023 National Dog Show on NBC, and it's also available for streaming on NBC's website and various streaming platforms, such as Hulu Live and YouTube TV. If you have a smartphone or other compatible devices, you can catch the show on the NBC app.

How do I buy tickets to the National Dog Show?

It's important to note that the National Dog Show is not broadcast live on Thanksgiving Day. Instead, it's recorded before the holiday, and this year's recording is scheduled for November 18-19. The competition takes place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania, and you can attend in person with a ticket. You can expect to see around 2,000 dogs from about 100 different breeds.

Tickets for the November 18-19 event are currently available for purchase on the official National Dog Show website. Adult tickets are priced at $16, while children aged 4-11 can attend for $7, and kids aged three and under get in for free.
