On Oct. 9, Dierks Bentley met and performed for first responders and victims of the Las Vegas shooting. The country star shared a few snapshots from the emotional trip through social media.
In his first post, Bentley shares a timelapse of the flight into town. An avid pilot, he often flies himself to different shows and performances. The view from the cockpit provides a cool perspective. He captioned it with "Stopping by Vegas to say hi to some folks."
Later in the day, Bentley shared a photo from his visit to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. That's one of the hospitals that dealt most heavily with victims of the shootings as the state's only hospital with a Level 1 trauma center.
In the picture, hundreds of staff gather in a room around Bentley, who sits on a stool, guitar in hands. "Thank you UMCSN for letting me stop by and hang with y'all for a little bit," he wrote in the photo's caption. He got a chance to talk with the doctors, nurses and staff a bit more. "Thank you for sharing your stories and your time," he says. "I needed that."
Last but certainly not least, Bentley visited with some first responders. He captioned the picture, "Everyday heroes among us."
Bentley is just one of dozens of country superstars taking time to do what they can for those affected by the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. Jason Aldean also visited Las Vegas after the shooting, taking time to talk one-on-one with victims.
Aldean was headlining the evening when a man opened fire on the crowd from a nearby hotel window. He killed 58 people and injured more than 500 more in a span of a few minutes. Since then, the country world has come forward with new songs, donations and messages, both hopeful and political.
