Did You Know Anjelica Huston’s Brother Danny Was a ‘Yellowstone’ Villain?

Yellowstone has had numerous notable adversaries for the Dutton family throughout its three seasons. One of the standout characters was billionaire developer Dan Jenkins who showed up eager to transform the Dutton's Montana land into something profitable for himself. (Warning: spoilers ahead.)

Just when you thought he could withstand anything after surviving a hanging at the end of season 1, Dan sadly met an untimely fate and the end of season 2. The character was played to perfection by actor Danny Huston, who just so happens to be Anjelica Huston's brother. Not to mention the son of famed Hollywood director John Huston and grandson of actor Walter Huston.

Huston was born in Rome, Italy but has actively been appearing in films and on TV since the mid-90s. Some of the Golden Globe nominee's most notable TV roles include playing the Axeman in American Horror Story: Coven, Ben Diamond in the Starz series Magic City, and recurring roles on Masters of Sex, Paranoid, and Succession. He's also been a regular face in a slew of diverse films over the years like 30 Days of Night, The Aviator, How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, Wonder Woman, Big Eyes, Clash of the Titans, Edge of Darkness, Marie Antoinette, Children of Men, Silver City, The Constant Gardener, Game Night, Boogie Woogie, Leaving Las Vegas, Robin Hood, The Number 23, Angel Has Fallen, Hitchcock, The Proposition, Orson Welles, and more. He portrayed Ivan Beckman in Ivans Xtc, Samuel Adams in HBO's miniseries John Adams, and William Stryker in X Men Origins: Wolverine. Honestly, just check out his IMDB profile because Huston's probably one of those guys who you recognize from everything and didn't realize it was him.

But recently, the actor has developed a new fan base playing Dan Jenkins on Yellowstone. The businessman was one of the earliest enemies of John Dutton on the popular series, teaming up with Chief Rainwater to bring down the Dutton empire. He made quite an entertaining adversary for Beth Dutton in particular who found multiple ways to successfully humiliate him in an attempt to send him back to California.

"Dan Jenkins really in a sense is a character who's an outsider," Huston told TV Insider.

"And he's a sort of eco-friendly land developer who believes that he can bring the dream of this grand landscape and very majestic palate to people who wouldn't see it otherwise. But the mere fact of him being an outsider means that he's going to create a certain amount of antagonism with the real cowboys, cowboys that city boys want to be."

Huston was excited that so many people gravitated towards Yellowstone and that the show has developed a steady and passionate fan base since the very beginning.

"It's, in a way, a story about America and how the country has been born," he continued. "A lot of birth in America is through violence and there's nobody better than Taylor Sheridan to write that subject, the subject of the birth of America. The character of Dan Jenkins is a more civilized America, but will that civilized quality in Dan Jenkins survive the violence that is brought upon it?"

As we know, a violent confrontation with the terrifying Beck Brothers leads to Dan's death. The Becks were two alpha males who were new additions in Season 2 and became terrifying new adversaries for John Dutton and really, everyone else in town. Dutton and Jenkins ended up finding themselves on the same side of the fight but it was too late for Jenkins to make it out unscathed. Huston bid farewell to his character on social media, posting a photo of his empty chair next to Gil Birmingham (Chief Rainwater on the show). Fans were quick to express their sadness at his exit and note that Dan will be missed moving into future seasons.
