Last night, Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black were the first duo to be unmasked on The Masked Singer Season 4 on FOX. The contestants were the seventh elimination of the season, after competing together dressed as the snow owls with the voices of two country angels. They lost the smackdown to another contestant so unfortunately, we weren't able to see the owls come out of their egg during a performance which was apparently a plan down the road.

"It took about three minutes to decide to do it," Black told Variety. "And then it was, 'Oh my God what have we done?' It starts to look like more than you can chew. We really didn't have an idea just how challenging it would be. But it was fun. We're glad we did it."

The country singer and his wife, a Hollywood actress, had to come up with a couple of hilarious lies to explain why they were out in Los Angeles filming the TV show while maintaining their secret identity on stage.

"On the front end of it we did because there were certain people in our lives that [had to know] we were going to be away for a while doing the show," Black explained to EW

"So I just said, "We're going out to L.A. to tape a music show." And then they would always ask which one. So I would say, "Oh, it's not placed yet. It's going to be a Netflix show or Amazon or something. They don't have a place and so they don't even have a title." And that was a big lie. I don't want to get too good at lying, but I have to say I was pretty expert at that one."

The power couple was eliminated after performing "The Prayer" by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. After their duet, "Popcorn" was chosen from the Group A finals to move on and the snow owls were able to remove their masks. But not before the judges tried guessing who was behind them one last time. They were also able to give a clue that they were married which eliminated previous guesses like Derek and Julianne Hough or Donnie and Marie Osmond. By this point, the panelists definitely knew that there was a Nashville clue and potentially even a nod to country music.

Jenny McCarthy was actually moved to tears by their performance. Niecy Nash came close when she guessed Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams Paisley (but later changed her guess to Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna). Robin Thicke was also close when he guessed Amy Grant and Vince Gill, taking advantage of last week's clue that the couple had an "empty nest." Typical Ken Jeong took things in the wrong direction when he guessed Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, which even host Nick Cannon admitted was ridiculous. The only judge to guess the celeb couple correctly was Nicole Scherzinger.

The couple also revealed to EW their famous friend who was helping give clues (honestly spoilers) on the show. Other options given to producers included their daughter, Lily Pearl Black.

"That's Steve Wariner. He is a dear friend, and we've known him forever. He's a legend in our business. We gave [the show's producers] a couple of choices, and they picked Steve and so it was fun. Steve was one of only a few people who knew we were doing the show."
