Chip and Joanna Gaines Surprise St. Jude's Kids in Texas

Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines welcomed kids from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to their home in Waco, Texas recently to play games and make cookies.

As part of the TODAY show's annual "Thanks and Giving" series, the couple discussed their ongoing work with St. Jude's.

"The second we stepped on the campus of St. Jude's we felt something different," Joanna Gaines said. "We saw these children and the look in their eyes. They were like these angels. It's almost like they're these pictures of resilience and strength."

Earlier this year, the couple donated $1.5 million to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee and built a new playhouse for the St. Jude Target House.

"I was dumb enough, for lack of a better term, to ask 'what kind of impact does a couple million dollars make?' And he says you kept us open for one day," Chip Gaines said on TODAY. "It's fairly daunting. If we could raise a million dollars a day we'd do it."

Along with St. Jude's National Outreach Director Marlo Thomas, the kids joined the Gaines family in decorating cookies and competing in potato sack races. Watch the full clip above.
