Six people were involved in the violent crash, which resulted in the aircraft becoming engulfed in flames. Video taken at the scene by Zayra Garza and verified by NBC News showed people running towards the fiery aircraft.
Two bystanders ran in with rescue plans -- one carrying a sledgehammer and the other a shovel -- using tools to shatter the cockpit and retrieve the survivors.
"It looked like part of a movie. I was in shock," Garza told the Associated Press. "What was worrying me was the fire. I was concerned that it could have just exploded at any time."
One person has been confirmed dead, according to Laredo police public information officer Jose Baeza. All survivors were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
"Regrettably and tragically, there is one deceased involved in this crash," Baeza
told reporters. "What we have tonight is a tragic event."Police said that the identity of the deceased will remain private until the victim's family is notified.
Texas Mayor Says Plane Crash is Being Investigated
In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna 680A business jet crashed south of Laredo, Texas, home to roughly 265,000 residents.
Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño issued a statement Wednesday morning, stating, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by the recent private jet crash."
One vehicle traveling southbound crashed into the private plane. Multiple first responders were treated for smoke inhalation.
Treviño said that an investigation is underway.
"As mayor, I understand the importance of allowing investigators to complete a thorough and objective review. Before drawing any conclusions," he said, according to KGNS News.
As the FBI and other agencies investigate the crash, Treviño noted that Loop 20 will remain closed on Wednesday, June 17. Residents are advised to make alternate travel routes.
