Total Time 35 minutes mins
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the sugar, butter and water on medium heat. Stirring constantly, cook until mixture reaches 300ºF, about 15 minutes.
Pour toffee mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet and spread to desired thickness. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and let the chocolate melt, about 1-2 minutes. Spread the chocolate over the toffee and top with the chopped pecans.
Let sit at room temperature for about an hour to harden or place in the fridge. When firm, break into pieces and serve.
You can tell when the toffee is ready when you drop a small amount of the mixture in a glass of water and breaks into brittle threads.
Keep this Toffee stored in an air-tight container.
