Ingredients

  • 2 cups Bisquick
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • Oil, for frying
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp cardamom
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

  • To start, heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a saucepan or pot over medium heat. You want it to be around 350F when frying donuts.
  • Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl combine the Bisquick, flour, sugar, and spices. In a separate medium bowl combine the egg and apple cider. Add into the flour mixture and stir, combing all the bits of flour into the wet. The batter will be very thick!
  • Using a large spoon or small cookie scoop, drop batter balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and shake in a paper bag filled with cinnamon sugar. Dust with powdered sugar and pumpkin spice if desired.
