Willie Nelson's cannabis brand Willie's Reserve will soon launch a new line of products called Willie's Remedy, starting with coffee beans infused with CBD oil. The aim of Willie's Remedy will focus on the beneficial qualities of CBD without the high that comes with THC.
"It's two of my favorites, together in the perfect combination," Nelson said in a statement about the new product. "Like coffee, cannabis is a plant that works for me." Willie's CBD Whole Bean Coffee Remedy will provide customers with 5 mg of oil in an 8-ounce cup.
Like the rest of Willie's Reserve, the crucial ingredient in the product will come from plants grown by independent farmers. When it comes to CBD, hemp provides more of the chemical than THC, making it non-psychoactive, as opposed to marijuana. Nelson feels strongly about supporting the future of the hemp industry in the United States.
"Hemp production was suppressed in America because hemp was competitive to too many industries. The country probably missed some opportunity during hemp prohibition," Nelson explains. "But another way to look at it is that hemp is the answer to [a] huge range of challenges we're facing right now. Allowing commercial hemp farming will create jobs for the farmers."
The CBD-infused coffee will first see its release in Colorado this September, ushering in the line of yet-to-be-named CBD products. This will grow the red-headed stranger's reach in the American cannabis industry as Willie's Reserve continues to flourish. Recently, Willie's Reserve announced a partnership with country singer-songwriter Margo Price who will release her own strain of pot with the cannabis company.
Though Nelson can't sell his high-quality cannabis products in his beloved town of Austin, Texas, where fans can only view the products Nelson offers on WilliesReserve.com, he can sell in states where pot is legal like California, Washington, Colorado and Oregon. Willie's Reserve currently offers products like ready-rolled joints, cacao nibs, vape cartridges and cannabis flowers.
