The holidays are so hectic - you're always forgetting something! Like when you realize there's no whipped cream for the pumpkin pie or you're out of tape for gifts. Making an extra trip is the last thing anyone wants over the holidays. So what are you to do if the unthinkable happens?
You're probably going to have to make a trip out to track down the best place that's still open and has the ingredients or item you're looking for. Lucky, plenty of familiar places, like Walgreens, open their doors on Thanksgiving. Then there's Starbucks, which can help to caffeinate stressed cooks. Grocery stores will have last-minute meal items, too. Or if cooking gives you hives, plenty of restaurants will be open for lunch and dinner instead. You can even slide through a few fast food drive-throughs, too.
What about Walmart though? As the one-stop shop for everything from milk to decor, you hope they're around in emergencies. Usually, you know you can dash over whenever. But it's smart to confirm hours, especially with COVID changing routines over the past couple of years.
A few years ago, Walmart announced a shift for the season that may disappoint. Before racing over on Turkey Day needing something specific, read on to see if your local store sticks to the usual or follows the changes of years past. The last thing anyone wants is more stress from an unplanned trip if they turn out closed this year instead. See what you can expect from the retailer below.
Is Walmart Open on Thanksgiving in 2023?
To all you hopefuls banking on Walmart for any last-minute Thanksgiving purchases in 2023, prepare for a slight letdown. Continuing their policy from the previous three years, Walmart stores across the U.S. will stay closed on Thanksgiving Day.
"Our associates are the heart of our operation," said Dacona Smith, Walmart U.S.'s executive vice president and COO, in an official statement on the company's site. He went on to express gratitude to the hardworking staff, highlighting that the Thanksgiving closure is a gesture of appreciation for their efforts. It seems Walmart will continue to keep its stores closed on Thanksgiving. It'll open right back up the next day for Black Friday sales, though.
But if you find yourself needing something crucial to your family's holiday celebrations, don't worry too much. On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, the outlet's doors will remain open. Check out the latest hours at your local store via Walmart's online locator before going out, but rest assured, your local Walmart should have your back the day before Thanksgiving.
But while you're here, accept one piece of advice: Make sure you've got everything you need before the big day! That way, you can stay home and enjoy that big dinner without having to head to Wally-world.
