1 Dead, Multiple People Stabbed on Campus of University of Texas at Austin

One person was killed and and three others were stabbed during an incident at the University of Texas at Austin campus.

According to the Austin American Statesmen, emergency officials responded to reports of a stabbing near Gregory Gym around 1:46 p.m. on Monday, May 1. One person died from the attack, while three more individuals are currently receiving treatment from Austin-Travis County EMS. One of those injured is still in critical condition.

Although the campus was on lockdown for a short time, police say that a suspect is in custody and there is no longer a threat to the public. All classes and on-campus events at UT scheduled for today are cancelled as the investigation continues.

This scary incident comes just one week after a drive-by shooting occurred near the campus. Police later noted that neither the shooter or the shooting victim had direct links to the college.
