If you're a Dolly Parton fan, then you are undoubtedly familiar with her song "Jolene."

As we shared a few years ago, the singer's breakthrough hit was about a bank teller who seemed to have a crush on her husband, Carl Dean.
"And he just loved going to the bank because she paid him so much attention," she said. "It was kinda like a running joke between us — when I was saying, '[Heck], you're spending a lot of time at the bank. I don't believe we've got that kind of money.' So it's really an innocent song all around, but sounds like a dreadful one."
She added a few years later, "Had it not been for that woman, I would never have written 'Jolene,' and I wouldn't have made all that money, so thank you, Jolene."
The song has been covered by everyone from Beyoncé to Carly Pearce. But the singer Belles has written a new take on Parton's hit. We have the details below.
Belles Wrote a Sequel to "Jolene"
Country singer Belles has titled her upcoming single "Son of Jolene." It's a sequel of sorts to Parton's 1973 hit. The 26-year-old's song is about the son of the woman whose "beauty is beyond compare."
In the Belles' track, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Jolene's son has all her looks but none of her respect for boundaries and relationships.
Lyrics include:
He's just like his mother
Is it any wonder?
That I caught him in the dead of night with lipstick on his suit and tie
Dolly Parton Sings on Belles' Song
Belles' song found its way to a producer of Parton's. The Queen of Country not only liked the song, but she decided to sing on it.
"When I heard 'Son of Jolene,' I thought it was very clever," Parton told PEOPLE. "No one had ever thought of it that way."
Belles even posted a clip of her using the exact setup Parton used when she recorded her iconic hit. Sounds like destiny to us.
"Son of Jolene" is scheduled for release on April 17, 2026.
