'The Voice': 'Storyteller' Alexa Wildish Offers Touching 'Fields of Gold' Cover

"You bleed emotion and authenticity."

Coach Niall Horan had a near impossible decision to make during the first night of The Voice Playoffs when he had to turn his team of six into a team of three. Singer Alexa Wildish didn't make his decision any easier when she pulled off a gorgeous version of Sting's "Fields of Gold."

Wildish has proven herself to be a genuine storyteller with a knack for pulling emotions out of the coaches. She also possesses effortless vocal talent, and all those traits came through during her latest performance.

As the lights came up onstage, Wildish was already in the emotional place of the song, and she sang the lyrics with clarity and feeling. She stayed close to the original for some of the song, but she also added her own riffs and flair. She showcased her range by taking the song up a notch towards the end.

The coaches were impressed and moved by her performance, with Reba McEntire praising her for her enunciation. John Legend said there's no one like Wildish in the competition, and he hinted that it may be a good idea for Horan to keep someone so distinct on his team. Horan also shared his delight about Wildish's passionate performance.

"You bleed emotion and authenticity," Horan said. "It's been so good to watch you amongst all the big belters. That's the biggest compliment I can give you because you stand out, I think. This girl is ridiculously talented, and the world will see it at some point."

Horan chose his top three singers who will head into the live rounds on Tuesday night's episode. The show is available to stream on Peacock.

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
