The battles are well underway on "The Voice," and on Monday night (Oct. 24), singers from Team Gwen blew everyone away with their rendition of a Jelly Roll cover. Stefani chose two country singers — Bias and Jacquie Roar — to sing Jelly Roll's current single, "Need a Favor." They came up with a cover that rivals any recent country awards show performance, which made Stefani's job of only choosing one of them to move forward that much harder.
Both singers took to the stage with energy and ready to take on the rock-heavy country tune. Bias started the tune and quickly turned it over to Roar, who added her unique flair. The two continued to trade lines throughout the song, seemingly infusing more power into each line they sang. Bias showed his vocal potential and unique stage presence, and Roar impressed with her powerful voice and impeccable vocal control. The singers' harmony melded together perfectly, and they gave a performance that was truly electric.
The performance immediately impressed the coaches, and Stefani looked distressed over her upcoming decision. Still, she had time to hear from her peers. John Legend praised both singers for their performance and said he would choose Bias if it were up to him. Reba McEntire was ecstatic after the standout performance, praising Roar's voice and Bias' boundless energy. Stefani asked McEntire for help, and the country Queen differed from Legend in her opinion, choosing Roar.
"Now I'm confused," Stefani said.
Horan echoed the sentiments of the other judges, saying he "can't believe" what he witnessed on the stage. He was impressed by both artists, but he especially enjoyed Bias, calling him "absolutely brilliant."
When it was Stefani's turn to speak, she expressed her confusion over who to choose. She praised Roar for her standout voice and Bias for his energy and improvement since the blind auditions. She continued looking to the other coaches for help, but only she could make the choice.
After mulling over what Carson Daly called an "impossible decision," Stefani chose Bias as the winner.
Although Bias officially won the battle, Roar wasn't left out in the cold. In a stunning moment, she was stolen by coach Reba McEntire.
