Story Behind the Song: Stephanie Quayle's 'Selfish'

Rising country artist Stephanie Quayle caught up with us to perform her single, "Selfish," and share the story of how the song came together. "Selfish" appears on her 2017 album, Love the Way You See Me.

Quayle got the idea for her song before heading into a writing session while working on the record. A feeling of not wanting to share her man served as the day's inspiration. Songwriters Andrew Scott Wills and Tori Tullier helped her form the idea, and a few hours later they had the completed country music song.

"It just was one of those songs that fell out," Quayle tells us. "Like, you live for songs like that."

The simple, black and white music video allows Quayle's strong vocals to be the star as she sings you through this sexy song clad in simple blue jeans and a white t-shirt.

Stephanie Quayle's "Selfish" Lyrics

Wash my hair
Blow it all out
For you to mess it up

I took an hour
Picking out this dress
Your gonna slip right off
Your friends ain't gonna call
Cause I already let 'em know
Tonight I want you all to my own

I'm selfish
When it comes to you boy
I can't help it
I'm like a kid with a toy
I ain't sharing
Feel them staring
Let me spell it out
I want you and no one else
I'm selfish

So deep in conversation
They all want your time
Anyone can see
You light up the room
Everyone's watching you
But you're watching me
One look from you baby
And you know we gotta leave
I can't take it any longer
I need your hands on me

I'm selfish
When it comes to you boy
I can't help it
I'm like a kid with a toy
I ain't sharing
Feel them staring
Let me spell it out
I want you and no one else
I'm selfish

Oh oh oh
One look from you baby
And you we gotta leave
I can't take it any longer
I need your hands on me

I'm selfish
When it comes to you boy
I can't help it
I'm like a kid with a toy
I ain't sharing
Feel them staring
Let me spell it out
I want you and no one else
I'm selfish
I'm so selfish
So selfish
I'm selfish
