Ingredients

  • 6 Gala apples
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup apple cider

Instructions

  • Prepare apples by cutting about 1 inch below the top of the apple. Set aside. Use a paring knife and cut out the core, making sure to leave the bottom still intact. Repeat with remaining apples.
  • In a medium bowl mix together the brown sugar, raisins, pecans, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stuff each apple with the filling. Top with the top of the apple and stuff into a slow cooker.
  • Pour the apple cider into the slow cooker and cover and cook until apples are tender, about 3 hours. Serve warm.

Notes

We like to use apples such as Gala or Macintosh to bake due to their crisp nature.
Serve the baked apples with vanilla ice cream for a decadent treat.

Perfect Pairing

Serve these Slow Cooker Baked Apples with an Apple Pie Whiskey Cocktail for an explosion of apple flavor.
