The footage, seemingly shot off a viewer's home TV and posted to X on Oct. 2, instantly went viral. GamaVisión reporter Alma de la Rosa Flores was doing a live segment about a landslide in Monterrey, Mexico, while standing near a fallen tree. Several vehicles sped by on the slick roadway when suddenly a jeep-style vehicle spun out of control.
The out-of-control automobile instantly veers into the reporter, seemingly striking her and her cameraman as she lets out a scream.
The footage then abruptly cuts to a stunned news anchor live in the studio.
According to TMZ, Alma de la Rosa Flores and her cameraman were treated by first responders at the scene. Reportedly, the two were taken to a nearby hospital for observation, with only minor injuries.
TMZ added that the driver of the vehicle that struck the reporter and her cameraman stopped at the scene. They reportedly stayed as investigators dropped by to sort out the chaos.
Veteran Reporter Managed to Get in an Ambulance By Herself Despite 'Pain She Felt' After Vehicle Struck Her on Live TV
Meanwhile, local newspaper El Tiempo gave a bit more context to the incident's aftermath. The outlet reported that the veteran reporter was able to get into the responding ambulance under her own power, "despite the pain she felt after the hit".
Her cameraman, whom El Tiempo identified as Cristo Martínez, seemingly took more damage from the vehicle's impact. The outlet reported Martínez "took the brunt of the impact and suffered injuries to an ankle and an arm." He reportedly was to undergo X-rays to learn the full extent of his injuries.
Of course, onlookers on the internet happily weighed in on the shocking footage.
"Glad (and shocked) that they lived... but how stupid to film directly on the speeding highway with no actual protection or even cones blocking that section off..." one X user wrote. "Cars passing at over 100 km/h on a wet road were inevitable," another nonplussed onlooker added.
