Thanks in part to his brilliant songwriter Dean Dillon, Strait has kept traditional country alive on Nashville’s Music Row and beyond.
Strait “retired” from touring in 2014 after completing his final stop of the Cowboy Rides Away tour was at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, which attracted more than 100,000 fans. That night featured incredible collaborations with Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney and more. The concert was recorded and later released as a live album and DVD that included 40 of Strait’s most memorable songs.
The CMA Award winner returned to the stage this year, but this time, his fans are coming to him. On April 22, he kicked off a string of shows in Sin City as part of his Strait to Vegas tour at the city’s newly opened T-Mobile arena. After an incredible 28-song set that included a three-song tribute to the late Merle Haggard, he fittingly closed out the show fittingly with “The Cowboy Rides Away.”
