Iconic American indie pop singer Oliver Tree has died. According to Dexerto, he was just 32 years old.
According to local Brazilian news outlets, Tree, whose full name is Oliver Tree Nickell, was identified as one of six victims in a helicopter crash. Rio de Janeiro's Civil Police explained that a crash happened in the western part of the city.
It happened in a neighborhood known as Recreio dos Bandeirantes. One of the aircrafts reportedly struck an electric car dealership when it went down, causing an electrical fire.
The crash reportedly occurred between two helicopters. One, which Oliver Tree was riding, had five passengers, whereas the second had just its pilot.
Everyone involved in the crash tragically died. According to Portuguese-language news outlet CNN Brasil, the list of victims is as follows: Oliver Tree Nickel; Lucas Brito Chaves; Lucas Vignale; Gaspar Prim; and the two pilots, Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.
Tree was in Rio de Janeiro as a part of his world tour. He originally shot to fame back in 2017 when his 2016 song "When I'm Down" went viral on the internet. He was then signed to Capitol Records, where he went on to produce several iconic hits. These include "Miss You" and "Life Goes On".
