Miranda Lambert Confirms New Pistol Annies Album is Coming This Fall

Rumors have swirled for years that Miranda Lambert (Lone Star Annie), Angaleena Presley (Holler Annie), and Ashley Monroe (Hippie Annie) would release a new Pistol Annies album. Now, Lambert has confirmed the highly anticipated project in a recent interview with Time.

"Something about being together makes us a force to be reckoned with. We can get more raw and rugged than we would alone," Lambert told Time. "We're set for a fall release for a record. I think it's the best writing we've ever done. We've lived a lot of life since our last record. I think it's three girls telling our story very bravely."

While Presley told The Boot back in July that the trio had completed a new album, and posts on social media showed the gals in the studio, this is the first time fans have heard a concrete time frame for the project's release.

Lambert notes that it's the perfect climate in the country music world to release new music with women at the forefront. "Over the past three or four years, it [country music] has been very male-driven," she explains. "But I feel like it's starting to shift and people are starting to pay attention to women again, which is great, because I think it should be a good balance."

The Pistol Annies released their first album, Hell On Heels, in 2011, followed by their second record, 2013's Annie Up. Their videos for "Hell on Heels" and "Takin' Pills" earned them several CMT Award nominations and a loyal following.

Lambert recently wrapped up the Bandwagon Tour with Little Big Town where she reunited the Pistol Annies on stage at a couple of tour stops for a jaw-dropped audience, wetting everyone's appetite for a new record. Next up, Lambert will play a couple of shows this September as an artist in residence at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
