A Chicago musician is dead after dozens of rounds of ammunition were fired into his vehicle while he was parked at a gas station.

Bloodhound Q50, born Mikquale T. Cooper, was fatally shot Sunday, Sept. 13, at a Fuller Park gas station in an ambush involving multiple gunmen, the Chicago Sun-Times, ABC 7 Chicago and Fox 32 Chicago reported.
Cooper, 22, "was in a vehicle when two vehicles pulled alongside and multiple offenders from each vehicle began firing at the victim who was seated in the driver's seat," a Chicago Police Department spokesperson told PEOPLE.
The incident occurred around 4 AM, authorities said.
"The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and shoulder," police told PEOPLE, adding that the individual was treated by the Chicago Fire Department and was subsequently pronounced dead.
Cooper, a rising hip-hop artist, lost friends to gun violence and recently stated that he could become a victim himself.
"I'm not chasing death, but ... I'm not running from it either," he told rap vlogger DJ Akademiks last month. "I know what I signed up for."
He added: "One slip-up [and] you're gone."

According to one witness, Cooper's death seemed more like a militant-style execution than a "slip-up."
Surveillance footage shared by Fox 32 Chicago showed a man believed to be Cooper exiting a gas station store and getting into the driver's seat of a Tesla before multiple vehicles surrounded him. Moments later, multiple gunmen began firing shots at the 22-year-old rapper.
"I thought I heard over 100 [shots]," the witness, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Chicago Sun-Times. "I think the markings stopped at 80 or something, but I feel like I heard way more than that."
No arrests have been announced.
Cooper's death comes one month after two Midwest rappers were gunned down in a recording studio.
Dequaiseon D. Evans, 21, and Quentene E. Williams, 33, were both shot and killed on Aug. 12.
Evans goes by the stage name Lil Sheisty, and Williams was known as Funny $Money, according to Billboard.
A 28-year-old was arrested in connection with the shooting.
