Miranda Lambert capped off an all-women bill last Friday (June 21) at Chicago's Country LakeShake Festival by bringing acts highlighted during the day back onstage to share verses from U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
Lambert and Pistol Annies bandmates Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley were joined by Maren Morris, Lauren Alaina, Cassadee Pope and Lindsay Ell for the performance.
If anything, the seven-piece choir proved that the phrase "women in country" doesn't represent a specific sound, style or skill set. The variety of talents on stage included a modern country guitar hero in Ell, a punk rocker who's got your nostalgia needs met in Pope and two very different singers with the chops to sing Bono offstage in Morris and Alaina.

For Lambert, the festival offered a welcome break from the usual, male-dominated lineups—on stage and on the air. "These women have given me so much fuel personally and professionally and creatively," she told the Chicago Sun-Times. "It can be very hard to be stuck in the middle of a whole lineup of dudes."
Lambert's special guests all performed on the festival's main stage. A separate Next From Nashville stage showcased Clare Dunn, Rita Wilson, Rachel Wammack and Kassi Ashton.
Pope hopes the lineup gave hope to young women with dreams of country stardom. "Some of them are growing up and saying, 'Hey, I don't know if I should do this whole music thing, because it seems pretty hard to break though'," she told Rolling Stone Country. "A day like today really gives a lot of people encouragement."
