The person killed in Tuesday night's private plane crash on a Texas highway has been identified as millionaire tech mogul Joshua Baer.

Baer had become well known in Austin, TX, a buzzing tech hub where Google, Tesla and IBM are all headquartered.

According to the Austin Business Journal, Joshua spearheaded efforts to secure a lucrative contract with the United States Army, which brought in billions of dollars for the state.

The landmark deal with the US Army put Baer on the radar of Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who expressed his condolences on

"Heidi and I are deeply saddened by the passing of Josh Baer and the tragic plane crash in Laredo."

"Josh has been one of the most significant figures driving innovation and entrepreneurship across America. In Texas, he made our state a global leader. His impact was incalculable. Our prayers are with his family and the others aboard the aircraft."

Baer died in a fiery plane crash that witnesses said "looked like part of a movie."

Six people were involved in the violent crash, which resulted in the aircraft becoming engulfed in flames. Video taken at the scene by Zayra Garza and verified by NBC News showed people running towards the wrecked aircraft.

"It looked like part of a movie. I was in shock," Garza told the Associated Press. "What was worrying me was the fire. I was concerned that it could have just exploded at any time."

Baer is the only reported casualty in the tragic incident. All survivors were transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Laredo Mayor Dr. Victor Treviño issued a statement Wednesday morning, stating, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by the recent private jet crash."
