Martina McBride to Launch New Podcast 'Vocal Point with Martina McBride'

Martina McBride will enter the podcasting ring on Sept. 27 with the debut episode of Vocal Point with Martina McBride, and her first guest will be the biggest fish in the Nashville pond, Garth Brooks.

Per Billboard, McBride partnered with Luminary and Believe Entertainment to make the new podcast a reality. The 26-episode first season will feature interviews with peers (Pam Tillis, Rosanne Cash, Sara Evans, Don Was), country music royalty (Loretta Lynn, Brenda Lee), up-and-coming talents (Runaway June, Dustin Lynch, Lauren Alaina) and celebrities from outside of the country music scene (Howie Mandel).

"I wanted to do a podcast that's not really an interview as much as it is a conversation," McBride tells Billboard. "It's going to be a mixture of country music artists and artists from other genres. We're going to do some celebrity chefs, some actors; a mixture of people. I hope it's entertaining for the listeners and also that it gives a little bit of insight into the person that I'm interviewing. We talked about their life philosophy, their struggles and how they've overcome them. A lot of it has been so inspiring as well as entertaining."

Earlier this month, McBride reminded fans that she's not afraid to speak her mind when she took to social media to expose the lack of women on Spotify playlists. This representation gap makes the podcast an important platform for not just McBride but also upstart singer-songwriters and big label acts struggling to find exposure for new albums.

"I'm excited about being able to have people hear me and my guests in a different capacity," McBride concedes. "I look forward to each time I get to sit down with someone and hear their story."

The podcast adds to a busy fall for McBride. Her new cooking show Martina's Table debuts Nov. 18 on the Food Network. It follows the Oct. 30 release of a new cookbook, Martina's Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life.
