"We were in Santa Monica, coming out of our favorite restaurant," she said on an episode of the "Smartless" podcast. Adams had been one of the first people on the scene after leaving a restaurant with her family. "These people were screaming and a guy was walking and they were yelling, 'He's dying!' And my husband's like, 'That's blood!'"
Her husband ordered her to stay with her daughter while he and her father ran over to the man. Someone had stabbed the man in the neck.
"So he was bleeding and his friends were freaking out," she said. The icon and her family used their beach towels to apply pressure to the man's wound.
Hollywood Icon Talks Stabbing
Meanwhile, the Hollywood icon tried to calm the man so that he wouldn't bleed out faster.
"And I'm sitting there somehow going, 'You need to calm your pulse rate. Take a deep breath in," she said. "I was like, 'The more you struggle, the faster you're going to bleed. Just lay down. Let's elevate this.'"
Fast forward a year later, she happened to run into the same guy by chance.
"A guy walks up to me in the restaurant. He's like, 'I heard a story that you and your dad were on the scene of a guy getting stabbed,'" she recalled. "And I was like, 'Oh my God, it's you.' And it was him."
The man was "all teary" to reunite with Adams after the scary experience. He also was a father and had his son with him when he reunited with her. He also shared some details on what caused the stabbing. The man was having drinks with an old college pal when he apparently freaked out and stabbed the man.
"They were going back to someone's house and he just freaked out," she explained.
