Gwen Stefani Sings Countrified Covers of Past Hits in 'Tonight Show' Sketch

During a recent segment on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gwen Stefani turned familiar tunes by No Doubt and from her solo career into country music throwbacks.

It's No Doubt's "Don't Speak" and "Spiderwebs" and Stefani's "Hollaback Girl," broadcast from some other timeline where she pivoted to the same career path as her country star boyfriend and fellow The Voice star Blake Shelton.

Fallon plays Buck Pinto in the K-Tel Records-style ad for Gwen's Gone Country, which Pinto pitches as an album for those who "like your ska and pop by the way of the South." The South doesn't have the market cornered on country music. Just ask Shelton, an Oklahoma native. But hey, it's just a skit for late-night TV.

And if you order now, you get an exclusive bonus album, Blake Shelton's Big Ska Country, with artwork that shows Shelton giving up his coronavirus quarantine haircut (aka a COVID-19 pandemic mullet) for a green mohawk.

Stefani's real-life country moonlighting brought us two hit duets with Shelton: "Nobody But You" and "Happy Anywhere." Both songs cracked the Billboard Country Airplay chart's Top 10— and it's B-A-N-A-N-As for any woman to get that much country radio airplay nowadays.

"Happy Anywhere" is especially poignant in 2020 because being with a special someone stands out even more when fall tours and festival getaways are off the table.

"We've all been in quarantine and lockdown, and hopefully we've been doing that with somebody that we really love and enjoy being around," Shelton said in a press release. "That's what happened with Gwen and me this summer — and this entire year."
