Dolly Parton is a prolific, brilliant, and successful songwriter. Classic tracks like "Jolene" and "9 to 5" have come from her lively imagination. However, songwriting means a lot to her personally as well. It has been a form of therapy for her, the country superstar has acknowledged.

On Wednesday, August 19, Parton was honored with the Poet's Award as part of the 19th ACM Honors Ceremony. The event was hosted by acclaimed country music artists Parker McCollum and Carly Pearce. That occasion was held in Nashville, but Parton, 80, accepted her award virtually, most likely due to her health. She released a gracious videotaped message and posted it on Instagram.
Parton Affirmed That Songwriting Is at Her Creative "Core"
The phenomenal singer, actress, songwriter, business person, and philanthropist said the following in her acceptance speech. She was clad in an ivory ensemble, with blossoms of the same delicate hue in a vase on a table next to her.
Parton said, "I just want to send a very special thank you to the Academy of Country Music for honoring me with the Poet's Award. You know, I've been able to do many things throughout my life, but at my core, songwriting has always been the most important part of who I am creatively."
She went on like this. "Every dream I ever had and all the dreams that I've been able to see come true in life, well, they all started with a song. Songwriting has been my therapy...Songwriting has been a gift from God that has allowed me to touch people with words and music."
She Did Not Appear at Another Recent Event
Dolly Parton was also not present at her theme park, Dollywoid, on August 14. The occasion was the launch of a new attraction. The NightFlight expedition ride had its grand opening that day. Per People, in a video message, Parton explained her absence to the public, "I've told you before, all my fans, that I've had a few little health issues and sometimes I get a little dizzy and I get dehydrated. And I'm dehydrated."
Furthermore, she mentioned this. "So my Nashville doctor has kind of clipped my wings, saying, 'You ain't traveling this week.' So I guess if your doctor tells you, 'You ain't traveling this week,' you ain't traveling this week."
Dolly Parton may be curtailing her traveling in doctor's orders. Nevertheless, she is staying very busy. Per the outlet, she "is currently working on projects like her SongTeller Hotel, Life of Many Colors Museum and upcoming Broadway show Dolly: A True Original Musical."
