Dolly Parton has fans concerned. The country icon recently shared that she was sitting out several public appearances on doctor's orders.

Notably, Parton didn't attend the grand opening of Dollywood's latest attraction. She also set out two major awards ceremonies as well.
Fans were understandably distraught at the news. Taking to the comment section, one person wrote, "Please don't take her from us she is literally the one person we have left. Genuinely please."
Another wrote, "Love yall but please be realistic she's 80 one of these times she ain't gon be able to just bounce back"
And another wrote, "I think she's actually pretty sick but isn't letting us know. her not showing for the residency in Vegas was huge. she would have not just cancelled on that unless there was a really good reason for it. I think she's very sick unfortunately."

Another also added, "Well yeah, putting an 80 year old who weighs 80 lbs, in full heavy costuming + wig and make-up and the highest heels... in 97° heat for like 6 hrs straight to open a roller coaster in the summer sounds like a recipe designed to call the EMTs and scare everyone. She and the doctor made the right call. The humidity is so high right now its miserable out."
The singer shared a video at the unveiling of Dollywood's NightFlight Expedition ride. Parton explained why she is missing the ceremony.
"Now, I've told you before, all my fans, that I've had a few little health issues, and sometimes, I get a little dizzy, and I get dehydrated, and I'm dehydrated," Parton said in the video. "And so my Nashville doctor has kind of clipped my wings, saying you ain't traveling this week... but I like to keep all of you in the loop, like I said I would, on everything."
Parton also announced she is missing the ACM Honors and the 2026 Americana Honors & Awards as well. She will continue to work on things in the background though.
"So all is going well on the medical end of things, and I continue working away on all of our other projects," Parton said.
