Fire Breaks Out at Disney World, Shutting Down Ride

Guests were left shocked after a fire broke out on Disneyland's "It's a Small World" ride, with it claimed a portable charger was the cause.

A frightening fire broke out during a ride at Disney World on Wednesday, leaving guests shocked as cast members rushed to contain the flames.

The incident occurred aboard the "It's a Small World" attraction in California.

Videos shared on social media showed a costumed Disney employee using a fire extinguisher while guests remained on the ride.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Disney World Fire Claims Linked to Portable Charger

Witnesses who filmed the incident claimed the fire was caused by a portable phone charger rather than the attraction itself.

One TikTok user alleged the device, not the ride, was responsible for the blaze.

"This was a guest's portable charger exploding - not Disney or the ride. You can blame them for a lot but not this one," the user claimed.

Another social media user, who said their family was inside the attraction at the time, alleged that a child had placed a bag containing a new magnetic portable charger between their legs before it reportedly caught fire.

Someone identifying themselves as a Disney cast member echoed that account, writing, "This is correct. SW CM here! Everyone is okay, including the ride itself."

Disney has not publicly confirmed the exact cause of the fire.

The incident drew widespread attention online, with videos of the smoky scene quickly circulating across social media platforms.

Disneyland Has Seen Other Recent Incidents

The latest incident comes after Disneyland in California experienced several separate ride disruptions and on-ride incidents in recent months.

While unrelated, those events temporarily left guests stranded on attractions or unexpectedly exposed to behind-the-scenes areas of the park.

In April 2025, firefighters also responded to a blaze on the upper levels of the Pixar Pals parking garage at the Anaheim resort.

Emergency crews determined the fire began in a Toyota RAV4 before spreading to several nearby vehicles.

"When units arrived, they found the fire had spread to two or three additional vehicles," a fire department spokesperson said.

"The fire spread to several other vehicles, but was quickly extinguished," Anaheim police Sgt. Jacob Gallacher confirmed.

As with Wednesday's incident, photos and videos quickly spread online, showing thick black smoke rising above the resort.

Disneyland officials have not released any additional information regarding the "It's a Small World" incident.
