In a daycare in Homewood, Illinois, two parents were shocked to hear from their 4-year-old son, Grayson, that he was placed in a trashcan by his teacher. The parents went to the police and told ABC 7 Chicago about their experience.

Apparently, the teacher picked up Grayson and put him in the trash after he refused to take a nap. The whole class saw the humiliating act, and so did another teacher who didn't do anything. When talking to the school about what Grayson told them, the parents got to see the footage.

"I had no words, especially when I reviewed the tape. And my first thing was, of course, I'm crying. And I went to the police station," said Monica Forte, Grayson's mother. As Grayson was only placed in the trash can, and not otherwise injured, the police couldn't do anything.

It isn't just physical injuries that they're concerned about, however.

"We just wanna make sure that Grayson is aware that the situation, what she did, was wrong. He did nothing wrong," said Grayson's father, Justin Barnes. "It was just way worse than I could imagine.I'm worried about what he feels."

Teacher Who Put Child In Trash Brushes It Off As A Joke

According to the outlet, the teacher defended her actions by saying it was a joke. Naturally, this wasn't enough to prevent her from getting fired. The other teacher who witnessed the event but did nothing was also let go.

Forte rightfully argued, "You work with kids. You have to know how to deescalate the situation. You don't put them in a garbage can if they don't want to take a nap."

Although the offenders are gone, the parents are looking for a new daycare. The incident must sicken them after having trusted their kids with the daycare for the past two years.

The daycare has said it's trying to be as cooperative as possible. The school said, "We tried to work cooperatively and transparently with the family. We are working with our licensing agency, DCFS and the Homewood police."

"We have shared additional information we became aware of yesterday because we believe it warranted further investigation and possible action against the person who did this."

The parents have said they are considering a civil lawsuit against the teacher.
