Christmas at Dollywood stars former Wonder Years actor turned Hallmark holiday film regular Danica McKellar as a Broadway producer and single mother named Rachel. She ends up co-producing a Christmas show back home in the mountains at Dollywood with--you guessed it--an eligible bachelor named Luke. Per the film's tagline: "As the pair meets in the middle to please the boss, little do Rachel and Luke realize love lurks in all the unexpected places because this isn't the Great White Way. Or Hollywood. This is Dollywood!"
"Dolly Parton is a bright light who is rich in spirit, kindness and love," says Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming and publicity at Crown Media Family Networks, in a press release. "Christmas at Dollywood features Danica McKellar in a story about finding love and new beginnings in the most familiar place: Home."
The television movie begins filming in August, with an Entertainment Weekly report projecting a December air date. It will be part of Hallmark's 10th anniversary Countdown to Christmas, an annual multi-week event during which the network will show Christmas films from Oct. 25 until Dec. 25. The Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will premiere a record 40 different holiday films this year, beginning with the July airings of Christmas Camp and A Merry Christmas Match.
While Parton's role makes Christmas at Dollywood stand out above other Hallmark productions, it's hardly an oddity to spot the 9 to 5 star in a holiday film. Her filmography includes A Smoky Mountain Christmas (1986), A Country Christmas Story (2013), Dollywood's A Christmas Carol (2013) and Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love (2016). She also worked with Hallmark in 2010 for a 25th anniversary special about Dollywood.
