"These may not be perfect times, but I'm glad that I'm alive right now" sings Brad Paisley in his uplifting new song "Alive Right Now." Those poignant lyrics take new meaning after Paisley's joined by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital cancer survivor and big-voiced duet partner Addie Pratt.
In addition to appearing on Paisley's latest recording, Pratt also guest starred on ABC's Brad Paisley Thinks He's Special variety show, which aired Tues. (Dec. 3).
"I had met this girl, Addie Pratt, at St. Jude Children's Hospital, who's now a proud [cancer] survivor—a great example of what that place can do," says Paisley, as quoted by Nash Country Daily. "One of the things I said when ABC gave me this show was I would like to do something good with this as opposed to just making a show. Let's do something that serves the higher good. I can't think of a better example of what's great about being alive right now than a place like St. Jude Children's Hospital. I had this idea to have a survivor sing a line from 'Alive Right Now,' but I had no idea this survivor was like Beyoncé. She deserves a record deal. In the show you can image that moment is really—it was all I could do not to cry."

Special guests beyond Paisley's cancer survivor turned powerhouse vocalist friend included his fellow Nashville stars Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Darius Rucker and Kelsea Ballerini as well as the Jonas Brothers, The Bachelor host Chris Harrison, Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning and more.
Paisley's TV special aired as part of a country music double-header along with CMA's annual Country Christmas.
