Darius Rucker Joins Team Blake on 'The Voice'

Add mentoring duties for The Voice's Team Blake to the already busy itinerary for country star and Hootie and the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker.

Blake Shelton recently announced Rucker as the latest addition to his team.

"He's the perfect choice as a mentor on The Voice for obvious reasons," Shelton told Entertainment Tonight. "I made a joke earlier to one of the artists on the show, I go, 'You know Darius literally has proven that if he decides whatever it is he wants to do in life, he conquers it.'"

In the same interview, Rucker spoke glowingly about Shelton and the show, now approaching its 17th season.

"First of all, he's so funny and the thing that really makes him a great coach is he's so genuine. Blake is never BS, ever," Rucker adds. "He's honest and like I've told him, me and my family watch the show religiously. We watch it all the time and, you know, Blake is always honest with them and he's always got something cool to say."

The Voice returns on Sun., Sept. 23 on NBC.

Past series winners of note for country music fans include Cassadee Pope (Season 3) and Sundance Head (Season 11). The show also offered a platform for future country acts Nicolle Galyon, RaeLynn and Morgan Wallen.

The news follows additional details about Imperfect Circle, Hootie and the Blowfish's first album since 2005. It arrives on Nov. 1 via Capitol Nashville.
