Sam Hunt premiered his new song on Wednesday morning (Feb. 1), and it's sure to get a mix of reviews from both country listeners and fans. The track isn't country per se, well, except for the fact that he says "back road."
The tune has him comparing a woman's body to a back road. He details her curves and the fit of her jeans... is it hot in here? Even though it's pretty sexual, he still maintains himself as a gentleman. Not only did he drop this single after his engagement, but he reveals that he "ain't in no hurry."
This is Hunt's second release since New Year's Eve and, as a proud Sam Hunt fan, it's the first one I'm head over heels for. "Drinkin' Too Much" relied a little too much on Hunt's spoken word style to be anywhere close to country for me. "Body Like a Back Road" fits on country radio and it leaves me wanting more. If this is any indication of where his new music is headed, I want to head there too.
Hunt's hitting the road for his 15 in a 30 Tour (you'll understand the name once you hear this song) in June and fans in attendance are sure to get a taste of his new tunes. You can snag your tickets beginning Feb. 3 via Hunt's official website.
Sam Hunt's "Body Like a Back Road" Lyrics:
Got a girl from the south side,
Got braids in her hair.
First time I seen her walk by,
I 'bout fell up out my chair.
Had to get her number,
Took me like 6 weeks.
Now me and her go way back,
Like Cadillac seats.
Body like a back road,
Could drive it with my eyes closed.
I know every curve like the back of my hand.
Doin' 15 in a 30,
I ain't in no hurry,
I'ma take it slow just as fast as I can.
The way she fit in them blue jeans,
She don't need no belt.
But I can turn 'em inside out,
I don't need no help.
Got hips like honey,
So thick and so sweet.
Ain't no curves like hers on them downtown streets.
Body like a back road,
Could drive it with my eyes closed.
I know every curve like the back of my hand.
Doin' 15 in a 30,
I ain't in no hurry,
I'ma take it slow just as fast as I can.
We're out here in the boondocks,
With the breeze and the birds.
Tangled up in the tall grass,
With my lips on hers.
On a highway to heaven,
Headed south of her smile.
Get there when we get there,
Every inch is a mile.
Body like a back road,
Could drive it with my eyes closed.
I know every curve like the back of my hand.
Doin' 15 in a 30,
I ain't in no hurry,
I'ma take it slow just as fast as I can.
