More than 120,000 cases of Gatorade have been recalled across 37 states because the products contain undeclared dyes, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated, classifying the action as a Class II recall.

The massive Gatorade recall affects 122,021 cases of 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero, according to the FDA. The recalled Gatorade bottles did not declare the presence of Yellow No. 6 and/or Yellow No. 5 colors and bear lot dates between April 2027, May 2027 and June 2027.

The agency defines a Class II recall as a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

The FDA notes that the side effects of these dyes could include a mild rash or allergic-type asthma.

PepsiCo voluntarily initiated the recall on Sept. 25. A week later, the FDA classified it on Oct. 2. The action remains ongoing.
